Properties
Its flash point is 143C, boiling point is 245C, ignition point is 228C. At normal temperature, it is colorless, transparent and viscous liquid. Its hygroscopicity is worth mentioning. Application
DEG is mainly used to produce unsaturated polyester resin, aromatics extraction agent, DBP, antiseptics and cellophane. Package & Transportation
Since the hygroscopicity of DEG is very strong, DEG should be contained by dry and clean stainless steel, aluminum containers or containers with the interior aluminum film for exclusive use. It can also be contained by galvanized iron drums. The opening of the containers should be sealed in case water may penetrate in. The containers should be lifted and positioned with cautious, collision should be avoided. DEG should be stored in the well ventilated and dry place. Special attention should be paid to sealing condition of the containers. Safety
DEG is light toxic, so drinking DEG is forbidden. DEG left on the ground or equipment should be flushed with large volume of water.
