Meta-xylene is colorless transparent liquid at atmospheric temperature and pressure with aromatic odor, low poisonous. The density is 0.85g/cm3(20C), melting point is -47.9C, boiling point is 139.1C, explosion limit is 1.1%~6.4%(v/v) and flash point is 30.6C. It is soluble in ethanol and ether and insoluble in water.
